Small Town. Big Adventure

Discover Speed
Rev up your engines in Virginia's racing region. HalifaxVA is home to two tracks. The NASCAR-sanctioned South Boston Speedway has been the proving ground for some of the sport's greatest drivers. Virginia International RacetrackRacetrack (VIR) was named Car & Driver's 6th-best course in the U.S. The property, also dubbed, "America's Motorsport Resort," features not only racing, but also skeet and rifle shooting areas, hotels overlooking the course, a relaxing spa, and cozy restaurants. See for yourself why VIR is unparalleled excellence. Racing season opens in March at SoBo Speedway and in April at VIR.

Discover Water

Looking for a paddling experience unlike any other? HalifaxVA is home to The Southern Virginia Wild Blueway consisting of three rivers and two lakes, combining for more than 100 miles of navigable water. Beautiful scenery, great fishing, and interesting wildlife make it feel like a remote wilderness experience, yet it's a short distance from major metropolitan areas and airports throughout North Carolina and Virginia.

Discover Arts & Culture
From live and performing arts to galleries and sculpture farms, HalifaxVA has arts for every enthusiast. The Prizery is the area's premier venue for the arts, producing plays, bringing in classical offerings, including the ballet. The Halifax County Little Theatre presents three plays each year, adding to the art offerings. The Bob Cage Sculpture Farm is home to more than 100 unique pieces.

Discover Dark Skies
HalifaxVA is home to Staunton River State ParkPark, a certified Dark Sky. What does that mean? The park has little to no light pollution allowing for unobstructed views of the night sky and its celestial objects. The park features two Star Gazing parties each year that are free and open to the public. Stargazers view the night sky through high-powered telescopes and learn from astronomers from across the globe.

Discover History
From the Revolutionary War to the Civil War to Civil Rights, HalifaxVA is ripe with history. Visit historic sites at Staunton River Battlefield State Park and on the Civil Rights in Education Trail. Celebrate a turning point in the Revolutionary War at the Crossing of the Dan. Visit the L.E. Coleman African-American Museum or the Halifax County Museum of History & Art.

Discover Agritourism
HalifaxVA has a rich agricultural history, and with three vineyards and a distillery, ag meets tourism for a thriving agritourism experience. The Shangrila Guest Ranch is an international destination for casual to serious equestrian enthusiasts.

Discover Trails
Whether you're looking for walking, hiking, biking, or equestrian trails, HalifaxVA has you covered. The 2.5-mile long Tobacco Heritage Trail is in the heart of South Boston. Staunton River State Park is home to nature and equestrian trails.

Discover Culinary Delights
Foodies from around the region visit HalifaxVA for its award-winning restaurants in Bistro 1888 and Molasses Grill. High-end restaurants at VIR and Berry Hill Resort add to the dynamic culinary scene. Add cafes and specialty eateries, and HalifaxVA gets even more delicious.
