Reason #2: Distilled Spirits

Reason #2: Distilled Spirits

When: Thursday through Saturday, Noon - 6 p.m.; Sunday, 1-5 p.m.

Where: Springfield Distillery, 9040 River Road, Halifax, VA 24558

The latter part of 2016 brought with it the grand opening of Springfield Distillery. The good folks at Springfield Distillery invite you to visit the distillery, relax, and enjoy their labor of love with a handcrafted spirit made from locally-sourced ingredients. The tasting room is open Thursday through Sunday and for those interested in the process, tours are available. Springfield currently serves its SCRATCH corn whiskey and expects flavored SCRATCH corn whiskey and its rum – Beaver King – in 2017.

Here's a bonus for you: Springfield Distillery is adjacent to the beautiful example of antebellum architecture in Halifax County, Springfield 1842. The house features interior carpentry by the extraordinary Mr. Thomas Day. Mr. Day's work was recently featured at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. Springfield offers two private cabins on the premises. The cabins offer a comfortable home away from home for the discerning guests who would like to enjoy the best of what Southern Virginia has to offer.
