Top-5 Activities for your Guy’s Weekend in #HalifaxVA

Looking to throw the most awesome bachelor party ever? Are you and your best buds trying to shake things up and experience something out of the ordinary? Social scientists have noted guys tend to hang out while doing activities, but you probably already knew that. The key to an awesome guy’s weekend is all about activities everyone in your party can get on board with. The following activities are sure to provide memorable and unique experiences for your next guy’s weekend in Halifax County.

1 – Take a Flight at Factory Street Brewing Company: What is a guy’s weekend without beer? Stop by Factory Street Brewing Company and sample a flight of their house-made beer. Offering anything from ales to IPA’s, there’s a beer for everyone in your party. Enjoy a game of cornhole in the courtyard while sipping a pint of your favorite beer. The best part? The brewery frequently hosts events, such as trivia nights, live entertainment, and food trucks.

2 – Fish the Southern Virginia Wild Blueway – Is there anything more classic than reeling in a fish? It’s one of the best outdoor activities for small groups, combining fresh air, the peace and quiet of nature, interrupted by the excitement of hooking a fish. After landing it, there’s the photo ops, bragging rights, and a little friendly competition to catch the biggest fish. With more than 1,000 miles of shoreline, the Southern Virginia Wild Blueway is an ideal location for fishing. Whether you want to rent a boat from a local outfitter or fish from the shoreline of a state park, local attractions make the blueway affordable and accessible.

3 – Formula Experiences at Virginia International Raceway – Have a need for speed? Experience the thrill of a lifetime during your Formula Experience at VIR, which places participants behind the wheel of a formula one race car. The wildest part? No experience is necessary. Participants receive personalized coaching, use simulators, and take ride-alongs before speeding along the 3-mile track. The only attraction of its kind in the United States, Formula Experiences are offered on select dates, and registration is required.

4 – Tour and Tasting at Springfield Distillery – Who doesn’t love spirits? With a focus on traditional practices, guests can learn how locally grown grains become handcrafted spirits while touring Springfield Distillery. Traditions don’t end there – the tasting room, a cabin built in the early 1800s, was carefully moved and reconstructed with the help of Barnwood Builders. After a tour, sip cocktails crafted from Springfield’s spirits (or try them on the rocks). Guests can mingle with other patrons, play lawn games, or relax on the shaded wrap-around porch. Be sure to check their events page for upcoming bands and food trucks!

5 – Brush Up on Your Skills at The Virginia School of Traditional Arts – With a focus on preserving the skills and artistry of the past through firsthand experience, The Virginia School of Traditional Arts offers a variety of workshops focused on traditional trades. Learn about blacksmithing while forging, shaping, and chiseling tools, or forge your own blade in the bladesmithing class. Other classes include cast-iron cooking, carpentry, horticulture, and wilderness survival. Ranging from four to six hours, classes can easily be worked into your day’s schedule. An added bonus – in addition to the knowledge you’ll be gaining, participants also keep whatever they create in the class.
