Halifax County Historical Society

Description

The Halifax County Historical Society’s mission is to preserve historical information, artifacts and structures in the county and to increase the public’s knowledge of our area’s rich history. We do this by bringing together persons who share an interest in history, providing programs and exhibits of historical value, and lending assistance to members and the general public in the interpretation, collection, and preservation of important historical items.

The Society is located at The Chaffin House, 110 Mountain Road, in the town of Halifax, Virginia. At the Chaffin House, you will find a library of documents, maps, and books covering civic, religious and historic events from the time the County was established in 1752 to the present. If you would like to view these documents and many of the books, booklets or pamphlets published by the Society, please contact Ralph Alderson, Society President, at 434-770-4333 or hchsvirginia@comcast.net .  Also visit our website, www.halifaxcountyhistoricalsociety.org for more information.
