Martin Luther King Breakfast

Description

L. E. Coleman African American Museum will host its annual Martin Luther King Breakfast. The breakfast will be held at The Prizery on January 19 at 8am. This year's speakers are Edith Younger Edmunds and Amy Edmunds. Edmunds quilts preserve African American culture and heritage, by exploring how art, geometry, faith, and courage could come together in cloth. Today, her quilts are cherished by art collectors and featured in exhibitions across the country.

Her daughter and co-author, Amy, inherited her mother's creative spirit; also quilting and making her own clothes throughout school. Their shared interest in quilts and The Underground Railroad remind others that quilts are more than patterns and stitches. They are memory, testimony, and artistry.

Tickets are $40 each, or a table of 10 can be reserved for $450.
