With America’s 250th birthday celebrations coming up in 2026, the Halifax County VA250 Committee is encouraging local churches, fire stations, town halls, or anyone with a bell, to ring them thirteen times at 2:50 p.m. on July 4. Bells around the country will ring once for each of the original thirteen colonies to celebrate Independence Day.

Those interested in joining others to ring bells in solidarity can meet at the Halifax County War Memorial in Downtown Halifax, next to the courthouse.
